afternoon at the park...

The Swing

by Robert Louis Stevenson

How do you like to go up in a swing, Up in the air so blue?

Oh, I do think it the pleasantest thing Ever a child can do!

Up in the air and over the wall, Till I can see so wide,

Rivers and trees and cattle and allOver the countryside --

Till I look down on the garden green, Down on the roof so brown --

Up in the air I go flying again, Up in the air and down!

A truly perfect day.

Back and front doors have been flung wide open. The sky is for-get-me not blue. We have brought the outdoors in and the indoors out by and turning our porch into a extra room. I have blocked off the stairs to ensure the safety of babykins and set up a studio of sorts for myself, complete with vintage tablecloth set on a small patio table, a chair snatch from the dining room table, a stack of fresh spring scrapbook papers, and plenty of toys to keep the baby happy as we come and go at our leisure.

At this moment Annabelle is excitedly watching her Daddy mow the lawn for the first time this spring, peeking through the space in the proch railing as I sit here admiring the patches of daffodils framing the big tree outside our bedroom window. My mom reminded me this morning that it's time to plant larkspur seeds so I think I will go dig out my seed box and do some planting, while Annabelle plays in the grass and make the most of what's left of this perfect spring day?

As someone once said "Real life is the the best fairytale of all."
